Item Description

These incredibly interesting pyrite concretions are some of the most unique specimens that we have seen from any locality. The small, sparkling, sharp, modified, metallic pyrite crystals have formed in amazingly concentric "rings" or "bands" on a "sphere" of shale. The specimen resembles some kind of strange planet, and almost has an organic look to it. A very cool "floater" specimen and certainly unusual. That's a piece of cotton on one side (now, removed). The tapered form of the sphere with the nifty conical crest on this one is exceptional and unusual!
