Item Description

Pyrite is quiite probably the most common sulfide mineral in the world, as it has been found in countless localities, often in fine crystallized examples. With that said, the classic and excellent Pyrite specimens from the famed Huanzala Mine in Peru are among the best pieces ever found for the species. Peruvian Pyrite specimens for decades have consistently been large, fine quality and showy, and this wonderful small cabinet display specimen features an aesthetic group of high quality, very sharp, splendent, light golden color metallic pyritohedral crystals measuring up to 1.2 cm, with no matrix. The upper portion of the specimen is in good shape, but the lower periphery is contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. Overall, the piece is good sized, eye-catching and good quality, despite a bit of roughness in spots.
