Item Description

Pyrite is probably the most common sulfide mineral, found in countless localities around the world. With that said, the excellent Pyrite specimens from the famed Huanzala Mine in Peru are among the best octahedral crystals ever found for the species. Peruvian Pyrite specimens for decades have consistently been large, fine quality and showy, and this wonderful cabinet display specimen features high quality, very sharp, splendent, light golden color metallic octahedral crystals measuring up to 2.7 cm. The crystals show classic, thin, elegant, dodecahedral modifications on the edges. The upper portion of the specimen is in good shape, but the lower periphery is contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. Overall, the piece is big, eye-catching and good quality. This is a newer specimen from a find dating back a few years. Valued at $1,250 for size, quality and displayability.
