Item Description

A striking, well-placed, 3.3 cm, elongated pyrite crystal dominates this rich and very showy large mounded specimen of densely intergrown crystals from the famed Huanzala Mine of Peru. The mirror-bright brassy cubes are very well-striated, with adds much character to the specimen. This hefty piece is solid pyrite and has a granular to crystallized matrix. The impressive, dense crystal cluster is in great shape, with only a bit of crystal bruising, mostly on the periphery. Huanzala is one of the world's great and most prolific pyrite specimen localities, producing world-class cubes, octahedrons and pyritohedrons. Hefty solid pyrite with 2314 grams or 5.1 pounds mass. Ex Dr. Vasco Trancoso Collection. He is a prominent Portugal collector and doctor near Lisbon. He collected for 60 years and built a fine worldwide display collection, that we recently purchased in Europe. Rich and excellent large example of cubic pyrite from the noted locale.
