Item Description

The Huanzala Mine of Peru has arguably produced the world's finest pyrites and this specimen is an excellent example. Striking, splendent, brassy, pyritohedrons comprise this sculptural mounded plate. The largest crystal is 2.9 cm and striated faces are few on this piece, uncommon for the locale. The textbook form and intense color and luster are top notch. This is an impressive, nearly pristine, 360-degree specimen, with only trivial bruising and periphery wear. Classic Huanzala material with several excellent display views! Specimens of this quality came out in the 1970s and 80s. Ex Art Soregaroli Collection.
