Item Description

A pristine, razor sharp, 3.2 x 3.0 x 3.0 cm, mirror-bright, soft golden-metallic pyrite cube is jauntily set on the sculptural clayey marl limestone matrix. An impression on the back of the matrix, where another cube one lay, adds allure to this showy piece. Pyrites from Navajun are one of the most easily recognizable and iconic display specimens in the world. They are highly attractive, and arguably the finest crystallized representations of the species. This locality is mined almost exclusively for its pyrite crystals, which are world famous and well known among collectors. Note that, as with most such specimens, the pyrites often come out in cleaning and preparation and are repaired back into place, as may be the case here. The base has been sawed to enhance the several fines display views of this excellent, aesthetic and sculptural multi-sided piece.
