Item Description

An impressive, very fine and rare specimen from this extinct underground iron mine in the Upper Peninsula. A striking band of splendent, brass-yellow blades of octahedral pyrite crystals courses across the bottom of the impressive large vug lined with dogtooth calcite crystals. A coating of specular hematite lies over the brecciated massive hematite matrix. This large and excellent combination piece displays well without aid. 1562 grams or 3.4 pounds mass. Ex Robert Nowakowski Collection.
