Item Description

RARE, highly lustrous, brassy, rectangular, elongated, terminated, pyrite "bar" composed of numerous compound prisms. One of the four sides is preferentially festooned with tiny sparkly marcasite crystals. This amazing specimen is from a singular 1974 find at the well-known Buick Mine of Missouri's Viburnum Trend and are highly sought-after. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only gentle bruising just below the middle on one side. The striking piece resembles an old Mayan stele or monument with eroded features. Ex John Whatley Collection, a well-known Georgia collector (1939-2022) and acquired from Stan Perry in 1995. A classic and rare pyrite varietal from Missouri. Valued highly.
