This is simply a representative, common specimen of typical Spanish pyrite crystals, which has been in the Meieran collection for decades simply as an example of sharp crystal shape. With crystals to 2.3 cm, nicely isolated on the matrix, it is a typical example of this material - which is admittedly plentiful on the market although it is still a nice one for showing people natural geometries and inspiring young collectors. Note that, as with most such specimens, the pyrites often come out in cleaning and preparation and are repaired back into place, as seems here. Valued $200-250.
