Pyrite

There are literally thousands of localities for Pyrite in the world, but the famous specimens from the Ampliación a Victoria Mine near the village of Navajún, Spain are among the finest examples of the species ever found. Their abundance on the market might cause some to dismiss their worth, but these are truly amazing examples of crystallized Pyrite, and the fact that they are so abundant makes them all the more impressive in my mind. If there were only a handful of these pieces on the market, they certainly would be more valuable, but you just don't see Pyrites like this from almost anywhere else, and I think they should be celebrated for their superior quality. This piece is a classic example of these famous Pyrites features a textbook, razor-sharp, highly lustrous (splendent), metallic golden color cube measuring 2.7 cm, aesthetically perched on matrix. A few minor nicks are visible, but nothing overly distracting. The piece is not repaired (some of them have to be glued to back together because the crystals "pop" out of the matrix).
