Item Description
An extremely unique and distinctive Pyrite specimen, from the not so well known Nanisivik Mine on Baffin Island in Canada. This cluster consists of somewhat flattened, cubo-octahedral crystals of Pyrite to 2cm that sit on a matrix of much smaller Pyrite crystals. No damage to the Pyrites save a contacted area on the small Pyrite crystals of the matrix. Complex crystals and clusters like this came out of the locale via helicopter transport (!!) by several collectors who worked there as mining engineers and geologists in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The mine is currently closed and these Pyrite specimens are rarely available. Unique and interesting old material, now hard to obtain.
