Item Description

The Tasna mine is probably best known for its Ferberite specimen, but there are some very attractive Pyrite specimens that come out from time to time. This piece is a very good quality piece featuring several sharp, lustrous, octahedral crystals of Pyrite up to 1.2 cm with accenting Pyrites and minor matrix. The specimen is in really good shape, and this piece is the BEST one of a handful that I acquired when these pieces came out (it was mined in 2004). The majority of them had such terrible damage that they wouldn't even be worth the cost of shipping to bring them back to the States. A good Pyrite specimen for a Pyrite collector or a specimen to add to a Bolivian or sulfide suite. It should be noted that fine quality octahedral Pyrite is only found in a few localities in the world, e.g., Butte, Montana; Quiruvilca, Peru, etc., and pieces from Bolivia are HARD to find in this habit and size.
