Item Description
Fascinating, sculptural, decidedly different two-sided small cabinet of solid pyrite crystals from the famous Huaron mining district. Sharp, variably-sized, mirror luster, brass-yellow, cuboctahedrons comprise this striking specimen. The dramatic large crystal at the crest is 2.2 cm tall. Many of the crystal faces on the front are preferentially pitted, while none of the crystals on the back are pitted. Very interesting fluid flow here. Complete all-around and essentially pristine. Specimens of this high quality came out during the heyday of the 1970s and 1980s. Peru has produced some of the world's finest pyrite specimens and this is an excellent example with fine form, crystallization and unusual pitting. Valued at $1000-1500 for special aesthetics. Old piece from the Art Soregaroli collection.
