A 2.8 x 2.5 x 2.3 cm, razor sharp, mirror-bright, metallic soft golden pyrite cube is jauntily set in the sculptural small cabinet in clayey marl limestone matrix. Pyrites from Navajun are one of the most easily recognizable and iconic display specimens in the world. They are highly attractive, and arguably the finest crystallized representations of the species. This locality is mined almost exclusively for its pyrite crystals, which are world famous and well known among collectors. Note that, as with most such specimens, the pyrites often come out in cleaning and preparation and are repaired back into place, as seems here. The cube is essentially pristine, with only very trivial edge wear. This excellent, aesthetic and sculptural piece has several fine display views.
