Item Description

An interesting and fairly hard to find reference specimen from the South Crofty Tin Project in Cornwall featuring bright, lustrous, pale golden, metallic cubes of Pyrite with notable striations measuring up to 1.2 cm, with thin prismatic Quartz crystals sitting on blue-grey Chalcedony matrix. The piece is not damage-free, many of the Pyrite crystals are contacted, but it's certainly a rare locality specimen, and would make a nice addition to any Cornish mineral suite or a collection of worldwide Pyrites.
From the collection Dr. Robert ("Rob") Bowell, a geochemist and adjunct professor in Geochemistry and Mineralogy at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Rob has a background in applied geology in tropical and deeply weathered terrains, he also has done mining consulting in the fields of due diligence, financial and technical audits, process chemistry, environmental geochemistry, environmental engineering and mineralogy.
