Navajun pyrite is simply the easiest way to convey to children, students, new collectors, family members who think us insane, that these are REAL crystals reflecting the microscopic order of the universe at large! Nothing does that better than these sharp cubes from a small mountain in northern Spain, near Zaragosa. I love them, and even sophisticated collectors usually have at least one in the collection because they are so appealing for geometry and perfection. Most of these jackstraw clusters are repaired, as is this one, because they come out of tight seams in the tunnel walls of this quarry, and are difficult to extract as clusters. This is considered acceptable, and assumed. This piece has a sharp central crystal to 3.5 cm and has long been in the crystal shape suite of the Meieran collection.
