Item Description

Pyrite is one of the most widespread sulfides in the world, and some of the finest examples of this well-known mineral have been coming out of Peru for decades. This piece is from the famed Huanzala Mine, and features beautiful, good sized, splendent crystals of sharp, striated, pale golden pyritohedral of Pyrite free of matrix. The main crystal in the front the specimen measures 6.2 cm across. There are some nicks and dings, plus the back of the specimen is not complete where it was separated from the pocket wall, but it's still a presentable specimen with wonderfully bright and showy crystals. It doesn't get more classic than Peruvian Pyrites, as they are some of the biggest and finest quality examples of the species ever found.
