Item Description

Silver ore specimens from the historic (opened in 1558), less well-known Vetagrande District of Zacatecas are very uncommon. This rich and showy old-time combination small cabinet comes in a UNIQUE cardboard presentation box covered with frayed, woven, bright red cloth and the information printed on the inside of the cover! Both sides of the quartz crystal crust are festooned with scintillating, tiny pyrargyrite crystals with the front having scattered nests of tiny silver wires plus a couple of isolated, longer wires. The nifty snake-like wire is about 2.0 cm long. This piece was apparently collected the 675 foot level, where the vein was 130 feet wide! A RARE Mexican mining artifact and specimen from the Dick Hauck Collection. Value???
