Item Description

The San Genaro Mine has produced some of the largest and finest pyrargyrite specimens in the world and this is a killer thumbnail example. These lustrous, robust crystals are standouts compared with pyrargyrite from any locale. The symmetry of these crystals is unusual for a species in which large crystals tend to deform (at least from many locales). It is complete all around. "Ruby silver" is supremely evident in the backlit photo. It was part of Jaime Bird's well-known thumbnail collection, which was displayed in Southern California many years ago. He got it from the personal collection of dealer Jean Hamel. Valued $1500 and worth it.
