Item Description

A SUPERB full sized thumbnail specimen of the classic old time "Ruby Silver" Pyrargyrite from the famous locality at Guanajuato. The labels accompanying the specimen say it's from a place called "El Cubo", but I can't find a listing in any database that mentions this locale. This is some of the premier Pyrargyrite in the world found in the 1970s and stands up against any other examples of the species extant. This particular specimen features a group of stout, robust, fairly thick, splendent, metallic silver trigonal crystals of the beloved silver antimony sulfosalt in a semi "fan"-shaped formation. The main crystal is especially fine in terms of crystal form and quality but the best part is that when it's backlit, a glowing deep red core can be seen! It requires a strong light to see the color, but it's definitely there. I can't see any damage on the front / display side, but there is a contact on the back that can't be seen when the piece is displayed. Valued at $1500 for size, quality and gemminess. A wonderful example of this highly sought after and valuable material from Mexico. From the collection of Senator / Dr. Miguel Romero of Teuhuacan, Mexico (Collection #5244). The piece is accompanied by two labels from Miguel's personal collection.
