Item Description
Two, intergrown, stacked clusters of splendent, metallic-gray, pyrargyrite crystals look like guard towers on the sulfide matrix of this showy and very fine old-timer from the historic mines at St. Andreasberg. The "towers" are up to 2.2 cm tall and are accented with calcite. You can see faint hints of red under very bright light. They look great from either side. There are a few more smaller pyrargyrites scattered about in the vuggy matrix. Ex Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection and purchased from the Ralph Sutcliffe in 1975 for $225 pounds. NOT cheap in those days. Classic material, undoubtably over 100 years old, but no proof.
