Item Description
Metallic-bright, dark red pyrargyrite in the form of discrete sharp crystals or in platelets in veins richly and attractively cover the scuptural limestone matrix on this showy, old-time specimen from historic St. Andreasberg. The pyrargyrite veins have a nifty leaf-like or dendritic pattern which was described in old books as far back as the 1700s as a classic for the locale, but which are seldom seen in person today! This is a very large and very rich ruby silver specimen from this classic German locale and certainly dates to the 1800s or earlier. Comes with a faded old label in German. Valued at $800-1200
