Item Description
Pyrargyrite is the so-called "ruby silver" gem species that is a little more glamorous than silver itself to most of us because of the color. It comes in sharp crystals from a number of localities, of course?but these robust crystals from Peru would be standouts compared to any pyrargyrite from any other locale; and for Peru they are, quite literally, "killers". With xls to 2 cm, this robust cluster is a large thumbnail or toenail size overall. It is complete all around. The symmetry of these crystals is unusual for a species in which large crystals tend to deform (at least from many locales). It was part of Jaime Bird's well-known thumbnail collection which was displayed in Southern California many years ago. He got it from the personal collection of dealer Jean Hamel to collector Jaime Bird. Valued $2000
