Item Description

A fantastic old time Fresnillo Pyrargyrite featuring several superb quality, very sharp, highly lustrous, deep silvery-grey colored prisms associated with minor white Calcite. The terminations have a secondary overgrowth giving them a unique appearance. While the crystal in the front of the specimen is in great condition, the larger crystal behind is it contacted, so the piece is not 100% pristine. Because this is a "Ruby Silver", we had to backlight the piece, and you can see it GLOWS with a deep red color inside, but you need a strong light to see it. This specimen is accompanied by a classic label from rarities dealer Josef Vajdak. The piece comes to us from the collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered. Valued at $750 in the inventory.
