Item Description

A 1.7 cm, sharp, doubly terminated pyrargyrite crystal is jauntily set in calcite and pyrite matrix on this very showy and classic old-timer from this historic district. The lustrous pyrargyrite has nice iridescence and you can see flashes of translucent "ruby silver" color under bright light. This is also a RARE combination piece, as MINDAT does not list calcite or pyrite for the locale. Modest pink calcite fluorescence. Rich ore, as there are fragments of more pyrargyrites scattered on the piece. Mineral specimens are very uncommon from this less well-known locale. Ex Herb Obodda Collection and comes with an old label dating to the late 1800s or early 1900s. Valued at $1000.
