Pyrargyrite

Item Description

This specimen is from a find from about 20 years ago in Fresnillo. You can see several sharp, striated, splendent, metallic silvery color crystals with a slight deep blood red color on the edges when backlit. Very beautiful! A wonderful thumbnail of this world famous "ruby silver" material. Only one small spot damage that I can see, and it's basically crystallized all the way around, so it's nearly a complete "floater" as well. The finest Pyrargyrites in the world are found at Fresnillo, and even smaller pieces like this are truly impressive when you see such fine crystallization combined with the fac that it's a transparent sulfosalt!
