Item Description

Pyragyrite is one of the famed "ruby silver" species, and one of the few metallic minerals that actually passes light when backlit. Certainly, some of the finest crystallized examples of this silver antimony sulfosalt are those from the Fresnillo area in Zacatecas, Mexico. This particular specimen is a lovely small cabinet sized piece loaded with many sharp, splendent, metallic silvery color crystals with a deep blood red color inside when backlit, which measure up to 6 mm, sitting on Quartz. You can see the intense hue that lurks within the Pyrargyrites, which is what makes this species so desirable and sought after by collectors. A really wonderful display specimen that actually sits nicely on its own, but it could benefit from a base to completely stabilize it. Valued $2,500.
Ex Colin Manlove collection.
