This is a beautiful gem of the now well-known Purple Chalcedony from Indonesia. This stone is from the same locality at the new botryoidal Amethyst (sometimes called "Grape Amethyst" or "Grape Chalcedony"). Chalcedony is essentially uncrystallized / cryptocrystalline Quartz and occurs in a wide variety of colors. This piece is a lovely silvery purple color gem, cut and polished into a 5-pointed star shape. The stone has excellent internal translucency when backlit. You don't see many Chalcedony gems on the market like this, so don't miss out on this one.
