"Pumpkin" Calcite (NEW FIND)

Item Description

A colorful, dramatic and sculptural two generation small cabinet calcite from a NEW, late 2018 find in Daye County. The 3-dimensional blocky crust of larger first generation, sharp, lustrous, translucent, dogtooth calcite crystals, to 2.3 cm, is strikingly overgrown with a myriad of smaller dogtooth rhombs. The calcites are a very pleasing and unusual color, that we call "pumpkin orange". Daye County is well-known for outstanding calcite specimens and this is an exceptional, uncommon color and style 360-degree specimen. The interior is pristine and the modest bit of periphery wear, mostly on one side and end is certainly only a minor detraction. Choice 2-generation calcite from the limited find.
