"Pumpkin" Calcite (2019 find)

Two generations of calcite on this colorful, dramatic and sculptural large specimen from a NEW, late 2018 find in Daye County. First generation, sharp, lustrous, translucent, dogtooth calcite crystals, to 2.5 cm, are strikingly, preferentially overgrown with a myriad of smaller dogtooth rhombs. The calcites are a very pleasing and unusual color, that we call "pumpkin orange". Daye County is well-known for outstanding calcite specimens and this is an exceptional, uncommon color and style 360-degree specimen. The interior is pristine and the modest bit of periphery wear, mostly on the back is certainly only a minor detraction. Choice and most colorful 2-generation calcite from the limited find and the last specimen of the small lot we received. We found one more piece.
