Item Description
Extremely aesthetic 3-dimensional specimen of pumpkin-orange Calcite "pineapple"clusters perched on top of microcrystalline calcite stalagmites. The majority of specimens from the find did not exhibit these unique clustering of calcite spheres. The spheres are composed of two phases of calcite growth. The initial larger dogtooth calcite crystals are peppered with a smaller secondary growth of similar dogtooth crystals. The coloration is thought to be from iron oxide inclusions. This dramatic and sculptural choice specimen from the 2018 finds is in excellent condition. Just a truly fascinating piece! Ex. Kurt Hefendehl Collection.
