Item Description
The very rare bismuth vanadate, Pucherite is the orthorhombic dimorph of Clinobisvanite (monoclinic) and Dreyerite (tetragonal). The species dates back to the 1870s, and was named after the type locality, the Pucher shaft in Schneeberg. This piece is certainly from Schneeberg, but I can't say 100% for certain that it's from the type locality. This piece is filled with micro crystals of reddish-brown Pucherite along with yellow Bismite on matrix. A great rarity and a hard to find example from this classic locality. The piece comes with an old label from Ward's in Rochester, New York, one of the premier mineral dealerships in the United States that dates back to 1862.
