Item Description
Bubbly, lustrous, gray botryoids with some rusty-brown areas form a showy and uncommon specimen from this well-known barite producing district. Psilomelane is the obsolete group name for hard black manganese oxides. The piece appears to be rounded and possibly stream worn. Psilomelane is not listed by MINDAT for this district. This could also be goethite or romanechite. Rare material from the Bob Trimingham Collection and acquired in 1982.
