Item Description
Psilomelane is an obsolete name for hard Manganese Oxides. This scuptural vesciular solid two-sided mass of matte dark manganese oxides consists of ropy masses of botryoids. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1836 and acquired from Burminco in the late 1950s or early 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017).
