Item Description

It's important to remember that Pseudomalachite is a copper phosphate species, and it's not a copper carbonate like Malachite, but they are so similar in appearance, that the name Pseudomalachite more than appropriate. This is a classic example of the famous old specimens from the old Schuyler Copper Mine in New Jersey, which has the distinction of being the oldest mine in the United States, as it dates back to 1715. This piece was presumably collected off the dumps in more recent years, and features a coverage of green spherical aggregates of Pseudomalachite covering the underlying sandstone matrix. Very little damage and fine quality all over. This is quite possibly the LARGEST individual specimen of this material that we've ever had to offer in the auctions.
