Item Description

This is a wonderful old Pseudomalachite specimen from the famous Silberbrunnle Mine in the Black Forest of Germany. Some of the finest crystallized examples (albeit micros) of this copper phosphate species have come from this locality. The piece hosts many small radiating aggregates of dark green (with tan oxidation on the surface) bladed crystals which have formed "rosette"-esque groups measuring up to about 1-2 mm associated with lighter blue-green Pseudomalachite which have a drusy coating of Quartz to give them a "sugary" appearance on the surface tucked away into a few exposed vugs on the specimen. We have photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. A great example of this beloved and now fairly hard to find material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#756) which is accompanied by a lovely old hand-written German label that states the piece was collected in 1959. Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecor... ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
