Pseudomalachite (rare classic material)

A wonderful specimen of Pseudomalachite, from the type locality for the species in Germany. This piece features several fine quality, sharp, resinous, dark green colored groups of Pseudomalachite measuring up to 4 mm across in a vug on Quartz (var: Chalcedony) matrix. Pseudomalachite is distinguished from Malachite due to its chemistry as Malachite is a copper carbonate, and Pseudomalachite is a copper PHOSPHATE. Specimens from the Virneberg Mine (St Josephsberg Mine) in Rheinbreitbach are very few and far between, and if you've been searching for a rich specimen of this classic old material, look no further. A great piece for anybody who collects rarities, German minerals or species from the type locality.
