Item Description
Two amazing clusters of lustrous, rich green pseudomalachite botryoids, to 1.2 cm, are dramatically set on the sculptural massive quartz matrix wedge. They look like compound green eyes on the head of an insect! Pseudomalachite is a Cu-phosphate secondary mineral found in the oxidized zone of copper deposits. This historic Copper-Iron district produced the malachite for the fantastic large urns and for decorative work for Imperial Russia. The one broken ball reveals the radial growth of the botryoids. An exceptional and artistic old-timer, dating to prior to World War I, with the striking, sharp well-placed botryoids.
