Item Description

An sculptural specimen with lustrous, pseudocubic, butterscotch-colored wulfenite crystals richly scattered on a very sturdy, 3-dimensional gossan matrix and beautifully complimented by botryoidal green mimetite from a recent find at the famous Mina Ojuela at Mapimi, Mexico. The largest wulfenite crystal is 1.2 cm and is doubly terminated. This very showy piece has a distinct biomorphic look to it and very few broken crystals, as you can see, for such rich coverage. This is a recent find, from just before the 2008 Denver Show, where we debuted the lot. We got most of the lot. This is an excellent representation of this new find, not a cast-off, and we want to have our auction customers to have an opportunity to obtain a fine piece from the second major Mexican wulfenite find, since the San Francisco wulfies in the mid-90s. The exact mine location is Level 6, San Juan Poniente vein.
