Proustite (rich locality specimen) ex Lemanski

Rich and impressive, and large for the locale: this is a small cabinet of crystallized proustite from this well-known Morocco silver mine. All sides, especially one face, are studded with sparkly, translucent, strikingly stepped-growth, wine-red cuboctahedrons, to about 6 mm. The crystals GLOW with cherry-red color, when back lit! The large Imiter open pit and underground mine is famous for excellent wire silver, acanthite and proustite specimens. This ancient mine has been intermittently active since the 8th century and is now a major silver producer since 1985. The proustites came out in the 2000s. See the 2011 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 42, No. 2. This is very fine, rich and large representation of the species and locality of this sought-after silver sulfosalt. Valued at $2000-2500 for richness and size, based on past prices they had sold for.
