Item Description

An aesthetic and VERY RARE combination for Peru and the famous Uchucchacua Mine. Amethyst is very uncommon from any Peruvian locality and MINDAT does not list the species for the Uchucchacua Mine. A glorious spray of gem, metallic, cherry-red proustite crystals is dramatically set in a beautiful and sculptural vug lined with sparkly spherical aggregates of lavender amethyst. The striking proustite obelisk is 1.5 cm long. The contact, with no damage, per se, where another proustite crystal once lay is noted on the large proustite, but has negligible impact to the outstanding rarity and quality of this cutie. The quartz-rich matrix is uncommon in itself for this locale. Value? We estimate $1250-1500 for rarity and combination quality.
