Item Description

Proustite is one of the famous four "Ruby Silvers" species, along with pyrargryite, polybasite and miargyrite. This old-time, very showy thumbnail from the historic Himmelsfurst Mine at Freiberg features sharp, lustrous, elongated, terminated, proustite crystals. The elongation is highly unusual, sought after, and collectible, making this a distinct and superb thumbnail specimen. The lighting highlights the classic, deep wine-red "ruby silver" color of the blocky crystals. Choice material from the Sam Nasser Thumbnail Collection and certainly over 100 years old, this is valued at $1200. It is a rarity in style, significant in size and locale.
