Item Description

Proustite from Morocco usually appears as small, isolated crystals with decent red color on matrix. In this case, lustrous and gemmy, ruby-red proustite clusters with relatively large crystals to 6 mm cover three sides of this showy and excellent specimen. One hardly ever sees these with base metal sulfides, but this specimen also includes a brassy sulfide (chalcopyrite?) and minute galena. A small 1 cm area does have contacting but the rest is sparkly proustite in all its glory. I was told by the collector who is parting with this that he paid $750 or so, when they came out (mostly over a few years in 2007-2008). I think the value not unfair. it is a very striking, showy piece with lots of crystals on both sides
