Item Description

Even though this rare hydrated sodium calcium borate species is found in more places in California than anywhere else in the world, I think the very finest crystals are those from the Kohnstein Quarry (which is the only known locality for Proberite in Germany). This piece is from a recent find from what I'm told, and is an excellent example of the species shows wonderful monoclinic form along with EXCELLENT gemminess, as most examples from California or Turkey as opaque. This is a great gem crystal rarity of a species that is simply not seen in well-crystallized specimens. The piece even shows fluorescence under LW UV light. You don't see these often for sale, and when they're available, they disappear quickly. A great opportunity for a species collector to pick up a good example of this attractive borate species.
