Item Description

A really fine quality and eye-catching display piece of the rare sorosilicate Prismatine, from the Stakholmen Quarry in Sweden. This piece features fairly well-formed, soft blue colored, prismatic crystals of Prismatine measuring up to 5.5 cm long associated with brown partial crystals of Enstatite along with tan to cream colored groups of Phlogopite Mica. Most of the Prismatine crystals from this locality are massive "chunks", but this piece features euhedral crystals with smooth, striated faces. A very good quality example of this seldom seen material. From the collection of noted species collector Paolo Matioli of Brazil, who specialized in rarities around the world, and is accompanied by a label from the Natural History Museum in Stockholm, Sweden!
