Primary Malachite xls (rare locale)

Item Description

Primary malachite specimens are VERY RARE and any species are uncommon from this less well-known very large open pit and underground copper and cobalt mine in Zambia. Lustrous, sharp, emerald-green and dark green lozenge-shaped crystals, to about 5 mm, cover both walls of the sculptural quartz matrix. Reports indicate, that the mine is now closed due to low base metal prices. Very showy, rich and rare material from this mine. Ex Jon Voelter Collection.
