Item Description

A very showy, old-time, CABINET combination specimen from the famous Old Dominion Mine at Globe, Arizona. Sparkling, emerald-green, primary malachite microcrystals in bubbly, botryoids richly cover the vuggy, gossan matrix. Colorless, glassy calcite rhombs, in a swath or as isolated crystals are a nice accent. But the interesting thing about this piece, is the fact that there are two secondary generations of malachite, that cover the original primary malachite crystals: lighter green malachite richly scattered throughout; and pastel-green malachite on the fringes. An attractive combination piece from this historic Arizona locale, probably dating to the 1950s or earlier.
