Primary Malachite on Calcite (Fred Pough Coll.)

Item Description

Chatoyant, lustrous and sharp, two-toned, primary malachite crystals are very richly and aesthetically set on contrasting calcite matrix on this showy and excellent specimen from the famous Emke Mine at Onganja, Namibia. The cute calcite rosette on one end is very nifty. Bruising is noted, but not to the malachite crystals present. Ex Fred Pough Collection, former Curator at the American Museum. Note his comments on the label that these are PRIMARY original crystals, not pseudomorphs after azurite.
