Prehnite with minor Tanzanite and Tsavorite Garnet

Item Description

This specimen hails from a discovery in 2019 in the renowned Merelani Hills of Tanzania, which most of you will recognize as the source of the world-famous Tanzanite crystals. Unlike the older Prehnites from this area - which features yellow-green colored crystals or even the newer blue bladed crystals of Prehnite - the pieces from this latest find feature distinct, well-separated, larger, excellent crystals. This attractive small cabinet features thick, bladed / blocky crystals of Prehnite crystals, with a beautiful greenish hue, but have a darker grey overtone due to inclusions of Graphite. Most of the crystals are fairly gemmy on the tips with sharp, lustrous faces and an almost "broadsword"-shaped habit. There are also a few small partial crystals of gemmy purple-blue Tanzanite along with a couple of TINY but distinct mint green crystals of Tsavorite Garnet. These Prehnites are certainly larger sized, showy and feature a new style (and unusual color) for Prehnite from this important gem producing district. if you're a fan of minerals of Tanzania or worldwide Prehnites, be sure to pick this one up.
