Prehnite with Epidote and Quartz

Item Description

A great association specimen from the Hongxizhen Area (sometimes labeled as coming form "Meigu") featuring attractive, very soft golden colored radiating aggregates of Prehnite measuring up to 2.2 cm across, associated with lustrous, rich olive green colored crystals of Epidote measuring up to 6 mm, sitting atop GEMMY, colorless, prismatic crystals of Quartz on matrix. Typically the Prehnites from this area have more of a green hue, so this particular style is rare, as I've only seen a select few with this pastel yellow color, and the Epidote association is not terribly common either. No major damage, and very eye-catching in person. If you're a fan of Prehnite, this is certainly something worthwhile to add to your collection.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#87 CN), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
